Prof. Harald Haas, Co-Founder and Chief Scientific Officer of pureLiFi Ltd, and Distinguished Professor at Strathclyde University is a pioneer in the field of optical wireless communications. He coined the term LiFi and introduced spatial modulation. LiFi was named one of TIME Magazine’s 50 best inventions in 2011. Prof. Haas gave two TED Global lectures, including “Wireless Data from Every Light Bulb,” which has been viewed over 2.5 million times. He holds 31 patents, has published over 400 conference and journal papers, and co-authors a book on LED light communications. Prof. Haas is the editor of two IEEE journals and has received multiple best paper awards. He was awarded the Established Career Fellowship in 2012 and was selected as one of ten RISE Leaders in 2014 by the EPSRC. In 2017, he was elected a Fellow of the Royal Society of Edinburgh.
